Alpha Datejust automatic watch 36mm (MIYOTA movement)

Greetings,,,I finally received my Alpha 36mm automatic. More about that later. I’ve been using and testing out this watch for the past 5 days. My thoughts:

 The watch is much better looking in person vs. the pictures. Despite the low price, this is a well-made homage to the Rolex Datejust. The finishing is very good,
For the price point. The bracelet is nice, comfortable and somewhat light. It was also easy to adjust to my small wrist (only 2 links were removed). 36mm is a perfect fit for me.

 The performance and accuracy are hard to believe. Have worn it continuously and also left it in a drawer overnight. Keeps almost perfect time. Nice Japanese caliber.

 The instructions included with the Alpha were in English, and very easy to understand.

 Appreciate the sapphire crystal and the use of both brushed satin and bright steel elements. The dial face is silver on silver (radiant), would be nice if hands were blued,
or just the sweep second hand; but that’s a design suggestion (not your fault) to make dial more legible. A white linen dial face offering would also work well.

A few nits: watch came with a nice green velvet-like case. Would have been nice if a NATO type strap was also included. The crown is also a bit sticky, but expect it to loosen up a bit with use.

N.B.: The real downer was DHL Express delivery. I wish I had ordered this Alpha a few days earlier and avoided the Holiday madness. It took ten full days arrive at my home, near NYC,
after I placed my order. DHL was able to get the watch from Lithuania to Leipzig to a local area airport in 2 ½ days, then a day to clear Customs, and then the watch sat in a bin at the airport for
another 2 ½ days, before making the final leg to DHL in CT. I saw the driver when he delivered the watch, and he acknowledged that the ‘final leg’ of their service could have been better.
The Holiday Rush didn’t help matters. I should have opted for ‘standard delivery, and that’s hindsight.

Tomas, feel free to use some of my comments on your site. Am looking forward to my next Alpha. Hopefully there will be ‘new releases coming soon.

Eine knappe Woche trage ich nun die Datejust und will nun doch meine Erfahrungen teilen:
Vorab: Die Qualität würde auch deutlich teureren Konkurrenten zur Ehre gereichen.
Im Einzelnen:
Das Gehäuse ist sauber verarbeitet. Keine Schleier, keine Grate. Saubere, exakte Konturen.
Die Krone rastet einwandfrei, wackelt nicht, kein Spiel. Das Gewinde hakt nicht. Es macht geradezu Spaß, sie zu bedienen.
Das Zifferblatt ist fehlerfrei gedruckt, absolut symmetrisch. Die Indexe sitzen da, wo sie hingehören. Keine Makel. Einwandfrei auch das Glas. Wahrscheinlich nicht entspiegelt, was wegen des hellen Zifferblatts auch nicht nötig ist
Die Zeiger sind korrekt gesetzt, reichen bis an die Minuterie, sind also (ausnahmsweise) ausreichend lang. Die Leuchtmasse ist absolut praxisgerecht. Auch am Ende einer langen Winternacht ist die Uhrzeit problemlos abzulesen.
Das Band: Besser als sein Ruf! Wenig Spiel, wenig klappern. Oberflächenbearbeitung sauber. Die Schließe rastet einwandfrei. Auch die Anpassung in der Länge ist problemlos.
Das Herz: Das Miyota 8215 ist nun seit Jahrzehnten bekannt und millionenfach bewährt. Es zählt nicht zu den genauesten, verspricht aber lange Jahre treue Dienste. Hier ist eine neuere Version mit Sekundenstop verbaut. Mein Exemplar liegt mit +8 Sekunden am Tag im erträglichen Bereich. Am Wochenende wird sie eine Minute zurückgestellt. Dann kann ich mich auch gleich an der sauber verarbeiteten Krone erfreuen. Die Datumsverstellung ist ein wenig hakelig.
Fazit: Eine schöne, alltagstaugliche Uhr, die deutlich mehr Freude macht als sie kostet.

Beautiful watch, well designed, solid, good weight, well finished, optimal size for my wrist, the silver dial is beautiful, I'm happy. The only detail was that the crown was very hard and difficult to handle, but with use it softened.

I bought this watch because, in my eyes, it's probably the best Datejust homage you can get in that price range.
Notable here are the adherence to classic design elements like the meassurements, the nice silver sunburst dial, varied and well executed brushing on the case as well as the gorgeous 3D hour indices.
Further details of note are the signed screw down crown and the very well executed date window and cyclops.
The Miyota movement is an excellent choice because it has already proven its reliability and almost every watchmaker can service or replace it easily. (It also keeps great time in my watch)
This is my first watch by Alpha and I'm completely satisfied and impressed with it, I'll consider buying again.
